Head of Product
Phoenix, AZ · Remote

Why is this role awesome?
We're in a $100bn +, antiquated market with a massive vision, and we're assembling the team to make it happen. We just hired our COO - and CRO, and the final missing piece to take us to the next level is this role.

About Zendoor

Zendoor is committed to helping Americans more easily build wealth by creating the first-ever full-stack solution for buying, managing, and selling rental properties. Of the 48 million rental properties across the country, 24 million are managed by a third-party property manager. That’s why today, we’re focused on bringing the archaic and fragmented property management industry into the 21st century.

We’re doing this by building the “Keller Williams” for property managers, which requires best-in-class proprietary property management software (Entrata, AppFolio, Yardi, Buildium) + back-office support & compliance for highly-rated property managers to grow independent businesses (Side). In creating a solution that helps current real estate investors more easily find great property managers, we are helping property managers build their own wealth by running successful property management businesses on our platform.

Launched in 2021, our platform is now managing over 2,000 rental homes in our first market. Earlier this year, we raised an $8 million seed round led by Craft Ventures with participation from Spencer Rascoff, Homebrew, Susa Ventures, Lenny Rachitsky, and more. We’ve hired leadership for our go-to-market and operations functions, and are looking to make our last key leadership hire with the Head of Product.

The Role 👩🏾‍💻

As the first Head of Product at Zendoor, you will have a massive opportunity to shape the product, implement processes as we scale, and collaborate across teams to deliver a great experience to our customers. You’ll work as an individual contributor through our next round of funding, at which time we expect to expand the product organization, of which we hope you will lead. You will work closely with the CEO to develop and own the product strategy and roadmap to meet our scaling goals.

What you will do 👷‍♀️

  • Talk to our customer segments (property managers and property owners) to develop a deep understanding of their needs. You’ll need to know the market, the motivations of our customers, the product, and the competitive landscape extremely well. You’ll learn to finish our customers’ sentences, which means talking to a lot of them in order to understand the root of a problem – and all variations of it.
  • Understand how the product team can help sales & marketing team objections in order to increase our growth rate.
  • Understand why customers would churn and work with our operations team on the fastest, scalable path to fixing it
  • Balance urgent short-term requests with long-term business opportunities and growth levers.
  • Communicate internally and externally. You will help write documentation and deliver updates to internal teams and our customers.
  • Lead effective product meetings and organize, manage, and run sprint cadences with our engineering team.
  • Research and spec out how things should work. Explain the obvious. Engineering shouldn’t have to ask a million questions when they start working on a feature.

What you need 👩🏼‍🎓

  • 5+ years of experience as a PM - Bonus points for experience at a fast-growing startup.
  • Strong strategic decision-making skills — you will need to decide what to build and why,  which isn't just about listening to customers tell you what features they want.
  • Technical background that enables you to convey product requirements to engineers and relay complicated details to non-technical colleagues and customers.
  • A passion for organization and documentation - this role is all about communicating while efficiently managing projects with many moving parts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of good UX design — you’re compelled to make things look beautiful and work flawlessly.
  • A growth mindset -- you should be a lifelong learner, hungry to learn new technologies, frameworks, and programming languages.

The Upside 📈

  • By joining as one of our early team members, there is an enormous opportunity ahead for you to have an outsized impact and shape the future of Zendoor in this role.
  • A lot of room to grow -- the product team will be orders of magnitude larger within a few years, and you’ll be the foundation of that team.
  • Work closely with our founders, COO, and CRO to drive strategy and execute key initiatives.
  • The opportunity to change the way that the world thinks about real estate use in our cities.
